Review for Sunset Reserve Matte Canvas: I have used this canvas for 7+ years through the current company I work for and a previous company. Last year I had problems with rolls in sizes 24", 36" and 44" with the canvas suddenly printing splotchy (not a printer issue previous rolls were fine.) Contacting the company they denied anyone claiming to have the same problem but in contacting another local printing company using the same canvas I found out they were having the same problems and were unable to get any resolution by contacting LexJet. I was sent replacement rolls that ended up having the same issues and decided that it was time to change to another company and canvas. After about a year of using BC Lyve Canvas I decided to give Lexjet another try and ordered this same canvas again. No blotchy problems have been encountered but now a new problem has surfaced. Black spots throughout the coated surface. Not something you want when printing high key files. After some research online I discover forums where others had encountered the same problems. Suggestions were that the black spots are bits of cotton seed kernels. I contact LexJet with the issue and they asked for lot numbers and photos which I provided. Again stating no one else was having this issue. Inferring it was just me. They did send out two replacements but charged for me 50% of the cost for the two rolls which was fair as I had used part of the rolls on darker images that the spots did not present a problem in. However all of this took quite some time to get done and left me in a bind with my clients. I have received the two new rolls and they still have the same problem with the black spots throughout the roll. In the meantime I ordered another roll of BC Lyve canvas. Comparing this to LJ Sunset Reserve Matte Canvas I found BC Lyve canvas has no such issue. LexJet suggested that I order a different canvas from them as a solution to this problem. This really isn't a viable solution as I have color corrected for clients based on this canvas for years and this is a bit of trouble to suddenly change. Conclusion: I would not suggest this canvas unless you are printing a lot of dark values. My solution to use this up is to gently scratch out the embedded spots with an exacto blade then print on it. Pros: good color, easy stretching Cons: embedded black spots & corners crack easily when stretching.
