Recommended Application Surfaces Stainless steel, aluminum, glass, ABS, polycarbonate, Plexiglas, automobile enamel and standard mounting boards such as Sintra, Gatorfoam and Foam-Core. The product is designed for use on smooth, flat surfaces and should not be applied over corrugations or rivets. Textured surfaces and wood tend to promote poor adhesion. Always pretest your specific substrate prior to actual application.
Printer/Ink Compatibility Compatible with all thermal and piezo inkjet printers using water-based dye and pigment-based inks.
Software Settings The coating on this product is engineered for better than 350% ink coverage. The Heavy Weight Coated setting in most RIPs is appropriate; however, we recommend a custom ICC profile for optimal results. Please refer to www.lexjet.com for ICC profiles for some printers.
Finishing/Post Processing Pressure-sensitive vinyl laminates like LexJet's Elite UV can be applied to increase the fade and abrasion resistance of the image. Before applying the laminate, allow the image to dry for 24 hours.
Water Resistance & Surface Protection To obtain a high degree of water resistance, use only pigmented ink. Allow the print to dry for 24 hours before exposing to moisture. Lamination is not required. Ink saturation over 350% can affect the water fast properties and show ink bleed. Dye-based inks will yield good color gamut, but bleeding may occur when the images gets wet. Over laminating dye-based ink will not eliminate image bleed, unless the material is completely sealed to a non-porous surface. Dirt and stains cannot be cleaned from the imaged surface and the surface can be damaged from excessive folding or creasing.
Light Fastness The fading time of inkjet ink is a direct result of the inks that you choose to use and the environment where the print is displayed. Contact the ink manufacturer for light-fastness data.
Removability/Expected Life Removable for up to one year under normal exposure conditions from most common substrates. Beyond one year, the adhesive becomes permanent. Recommend testing for specific usage.
Durability 1-2 years outdoors
Application Paper/Tape Use low tack application tapes. High tack tapes can cause slight coating removal. Application paper applied directly to the imaged surface may cause slight yellowing of the coating. American Biltrite Inc. paper and TransferRite cause the least amount of yellowing. 3M tapes have been found to increase the yellowing effect.
Surface Preparation Always ensure that the receiving substrate is thoroughly cleaned, free of dust, dirt or cleaner residues. Drywall should be prepared with a latex paint containing no waxes or silicones. Metal and glass surfaces can be cleaned with standard glass cleaners. Poor surface conditions will cause adhesion loss or failure.
Installation Techniques It is recommended that if water is used during the installation, use minimal amounts. All water must be squeegeed out from under the vinyl. If liquid soap is added to the water to increase the ease of installation, use only one drop per gallon of water. Soap must not contain moisturizers. Do not use heat guns to install vinyl. Material should not be stretched during installation. It is a calendered vinyl and it will shrink back to original size, which might cause edge lift or create gaps between panels.
Optimal Print Environment 70° F (21° C), 50% R.H
Optimal Service Environment For printing: 60° - 80° F, 50% Relative Humidity.
Service Temp. Range -40° - 176° F (-40° C to 80° C).
Minimum Application Temp. 40° F
Shipping Instructions Always roll graphics with the thinnest material facing out. When both materials are the same thickness, always roll them in the same way every time. LexJet recommends rolling the graphic with a minimum 12 inch diameter.
Handling Recommendation Due to the absorptive nature of the coating, you should avoid touching the coated surface of the paper. It?s always recommended that cotton gloves be used when handling ink jet coated materials. Rolls of LexJet film are supplied with the coated side facing out.
Ideal Storage Conditions 70° F (21° C), 50% R.H. (a controlled environment is recommended); store in original packaging.
Shelf Life 1 year from the LexJet ship date when stored in proper conditions.
