I participate in outdoor art shows.  Occasionally it rains.  The coating does not protect the canvas photograph as well as the original formula which was changed.  Water running down the canvas causes streaks, rendering my 6ft x 3ft photographs unsaleable.  Otherwise, printing an image in my studio and taking it directly to a customers house works just fine.  The coating helps protect the canvas during the hand-stretching process when the canvas is face down and moved around on a carpeted table.
In addition, the coating does not enhance the image.  It gives the photograph a matte look to it, even on gloss canvas.  Looks the same as a satin coating on matte canvas.
