LexJet has developed fully recyclable packaging for its line of remanufactured inks for HP 5000/5500 wide-format inkjet printers. The recyclable packaging is the latest initiative in LexJet's ongoing commitment to responsible environmental programs for its customers and the printing industry.

Participants in LexJet's Inkjet Cartridge Recycling Program who utilize LexJet Ink for HP 5000/5500 printers will receive their recycled ink in the updated packaging. Everything contained in the packaging – including the box, the bag, and the inkjet cartridge – is recyclable.

"LexJet's environmental philosophy is rooted in the 3Rs – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. We also adhere to an additional 3R ethical code regarding the development and presentation of our environmental initiatives and programs – Real, Responsible, and Right," says John Lane, LexJet's vice president. Since 2005 LexJet has recycled more than 100,000 HP 5000/5500 inkjet cartridges. LexJet's Inkjet Cartridge Recycling Program was recently expanded to include a broader range of cartridges for HP, Epson, and Canon printers.

Participants in LexJet's HP 5000/5500 Ink program receive a $2 credit with each returned cartridge. Those who recycle any of the other cartridges in LexJet's expanded Inkjet Cartridge Recycling Program do not receive a credit. LexJet will ensure the cartridges and their components are properly recycled, reused, or disposed of properly.

"After extensive research and examining the life cycle of a typical product in our industry, we felt the most economical, and responsible path was toward recycling or reusing as much of our products as possible. Therefore, we will continue to research and develop 3R-oriented programs for all of our product lines, from ink to inkjet media," says Lane.
