  • Clear, 5-mil, DuPont Melinex film with an instant-dry, microporous coating

LexJet Instant-Dry Clear Polyester is a 5-mil transparent, DuPont Melinex® film that enables you to use your wide-format inkjet printer to produce the color separations and oversized negatives needed in screen-printing processes. The instant-dry, microporous coating was formulated to provide the rich, dense blacks necessary for printing the negatives.

This film can be used with dye or pigment aqueous inks on inkjet printers that use thermal or piezo printheads.

Specifications are provided by the manufacturer. Refer to the manufacturer for an explanation of the print speed and other ratings.

Printer/Ink CompatibilityCompatible with all thermal and piezo inkjet printers using water-based dye and pigment-based inks.
Imaging SideMaterial is packaged with printable side facing up. Printable surface can be identified by a slight tackiness.
Software SettingsThe micro porous coating on this product is engineered for 350% ink coverage. Most instant dry media settings are appropriate. However, we recommend that you try a few different settings to achieve optimum performance for your specific application. It?s recommended that you create a profile specific for this material.
Light FastnessThe fading time of inkjet ink is a direct result of the inks that you choose to use and the environment where the print is displayed. Contact the ink manufacturer for light fastness data.
Finishing/Post Processing It is always recommended that a protective laminate be applied after printing. Always use pressure sensitive laminates (LexJet Elite UV, Elite Coex, or Elite Polycarbonate laminates are suggested). Hand applying laminates is not recommended. The print should dry for 24 hours before laminating. When mounting to substrates such as PVC, Acrylic, etc., a standard mounting adhesive is appropriate.
Optimal Print EnvironmentFor Printing: 72° F, 50% Relative Humidity; For End Use: -40° F - 176° F (-40° - 80° C)
Handling RecommendationsDue to the absorptive nature of the coating, you should avoid touching the coated surface of the film. It is always recommended that cotton gloves be used when handling inkjet coated materials. Rolls of LexJet film are supplied with the coated side facing out.
Ideal Storage Conditions70° F (21° C), 50% R.H. (a controlled environment is recommended); store vertically in original packaging.
Shelf Life1 year from the LexJet ship date when stored in proper conditions.
