Exercising a Brand with Photo Tex PSA Fabric Wall Murals

This project in Lancaster, Pa., shows the common need that all businesses have to make a bold statement to solidify a brand in the consumer’s mind. In this case, Lancaster-based Advanced Signs & Graphics brought the best of both worlds to its customer, Powertrain Gym, utilizing a material that can be as temporary or permanent as the customer desires.

Advanced Signs printed the wall murals on Photo Tex PSA Fabric with an Epson 9800 aqueous printer. The main mural was eight feet high by 40 feet across and was printed in 15, 36-in. x 8-ft panels. Advanced Signs also printed two smaller 8 ft. x 14 ft. murals and about 100 feet of border.

“The customer loved it, but this project started out as a completely different animal. They came to us through graphic designer Wally Hoetzel, and they were originally thinking about doing separate graphics dimensionally mounted off the wall with special lighting. The original concept was super-complicated and expensive, so we suggested doing it as a wallpaper-type mural instead,” says Bill Felter of Advanced Signs & Graphics.

Felter says the entire installation took about six hours, including the border. For each mural, the customer provided one big image. Felter went into Photoshop and cropped separate panels out of it with a one-inch overlap for installation.

“We had previous experience with Photo Tex so it was easy to recommend. I can’t get over how easy it is to install; it doesn’t wrinkle and it’s easy to re-position, plus it’s very durable. It really jumps out at you when you walk in the door,” says Felter.
