Canon’s iPF6200 Includes EFI Colorproof eXpress RIP

Canon’s new imagePROGRAF iPF6200 is the second 24-in. model to use 12 colors of LUCIA pigment inks. Based on the iPF6100 platform for the production of exhibition-quality photo prints, the new iPF6200 printer comes with EFI Colorproof eXpress RIP software for prepress proofing, a light version of Canon’s PosterArtist poster-creation software, and an 80 GB hard drive that can store jobs that will be frequently reprinted.

The extra data capacity and added features will expand the versatility of the printer for users within graphic design firms, ad agencies, corporate print shops, and smaller print-for-pay shops. For example, the Poster Artist software makes it easy for non-graphic-designers to layout and produce collage posters, event signs, and presentation graphics.

In addition to Canon’s Print Plug-in for Adobe Photoshop, the iPF6200 comes with a Print Plug-in for Microsoft Office, making it possible to add a large-format printing menu to the Microsoft Office toolbar and easily output presentations created in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

The 80GB hard drive on the iPF6100 can save time in busy shops by avoiding the need to reprint every job from a workstation. The content of the printer’s hard drive can be accessed remotely via a built-in Web server, using a browser for quick and easy job retrieval.

Like the iPF6100, the iPF6200 can print on either cut sheets or rolls up to 24-in. wide, and can print borderless, frame-ready images on roll paper. At the “High” image-quality setting (2400 x 1200 dpi), a 23.6 in. x 33.1 in. photo image on photo luster paper can be output in just over 6 minutes.

Canon’s imagePROGRAF iPF6200 is available now with a list price of $3,495. With the launch of the iPF6200, Canon has announced a list price of $2,795 for the iPF6100.
