My Big Fat Greek Graphics Project

The LA Greek Fest, held as a fundraiser at Saint Sophia Cathedral in Los Angeles, is always a big, city-wide draw, featuring such luminaries as L.A.’s mayor and Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson as honorary chairs and guest hosts at the event.

This year was no different, drawing huge crowds who came to enjoy the flavor of Greek culture, dance, play games, eat, drink, and be merry. The difference this year was in the signage and graphics promoting the event, and thanks to a big, fat heaping of it, the festival saw a 40 percent rise in sales over the previous year.

SignQuest, based in Culver City, Calif., produced the graphics for the festival on its Jeti 3324. The company was not only the graphics provider, but a sponsor. The company produced scores of booth banners and directional signage, plus entryway floor graphics and dance floor graphics protected with FLEXmark® OV 650 R 6.5 Mil Velvet PSA Overlaminate, 80 bus back posters, and an 80 ft. x 90 ft. building wrap banner across the street from the festival.

SignQuest CEO Ramy Baramily estimates the company produced $50,000-$60,000 in signage for the festival, easily made up and exceeded by the huge sales increase at the event. Baramily jokes that the organizers were mad because they didn’t have enough food and had to go get more and cook it up for the hungry festivalgoers.

LA Greek Fest

Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson were honorary chairs and guest hosts at the LA Greek Festival.

“I got a bunch of phone calls after the festival from people who want to work with us now. The festival happened about a month ago, and people are still calling about it,” says Baramily. “The entire event turned out real nice, and the production of the graphics went very smoothly. We’ve been doing this for quite some time, so we have the system down.”

Over the past 12 years, SignQuest has grown exponentially, and now has three locations in Southern California, including an emphasis on vehicle and building wraps at born2wrap.com. The Palmdale location handles small-format contract printing, like brochures, catalogs, magazines, flyers, and business cards. In Westwood, the company has a retail location, which feeds the manufacturing facility in Culver City. SignQuest also runs a separate vehicle wrap website at exoticcarwraps.com.

The trick next year will be to top this year’s promotions. The standard has been set extremely high through the hard, high-quality work of SignQuest. The graphics held up perfectly throughout the festival, especially the dance floor graphics, which withstood the test of thousands who took a spin on it.

The festival is scheduled each year in early September. This year’s festival celebrated the 10th anniversary spectacular of the LA Greek Fest.
