Recyclable, Durable, and Aqueous-Compatible: LexJet 3R Tyvek

LexJet TOUGHcoat 3R DuPont Tyvek®, which is compatible with aqueous printers running dye and pigment inks and will begin shipping in early 2009, was specifically developed to provide the industry with a truly sustainable inkjet-printable solution that incorporates the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The base Tyvek material adheres to DuPont’s sustainable manufacturing standards (click here and here for more information).

Reduce: LexJet TOUGHcoat 3R DuPont Tyvek is extremely lightweight and uses 70 percent less material than similar banner materials and is just as durable. Its weight is only 142 g/m2, which reduces environmental impact across the supply chain, from manufacturing to shipping to disposal. As a comparison, the leading “biodegradable” banner material weighs in at 510 g/m2.

Reuse: Compared to typical scrim banner material, LexJet TOUGHcoat 3R DuPont Tyvek is extremely durable and scratch-resistant, making it ideal for graphics that can be re-used repeatedly for a variety of trade-show, outdoor signage, and display applications. It also features a nice photographic finish for vivid, eye-catching graphics.

Recycle: LexJet TOUGHcoat 3R DuPont Tyvek is made of 100-percent recyclable high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which is accepted at most local recycling facilities. As part of the launch of this product in early 2009, LexJet will also provide alternative recycling programs that will ensure the material is recycled and re-used to create other products through the recycling process.
