Legend 72HUV Printer Offers Unrivaled Versatility and Reliability at an Entry-Level Price

The affordable Legend 72HUV industrial inkjet printer from LexJet enables graphics firms of all sizes to cost-effectively produce signs, banners, displays, and exhibits on a huge variety of popular sign materials. Engineered and built by Digital Equipment Company, the Legend 72HUV uses UV-curable inks to print photo-quality images and graphics up to 72 in. wide on rolls of flexible materials or sheets of rigid substrates.

Because the printer is built for reliability and switches so effortlessly from rolls to rigid sheets, users can produce a higher number of jobs every day, as well as the wide assortment of signs and displays commonly required for graphics packages.

Priced under $100,000, the Legend 72HUV includes top-grade components, built-in automated maintenance technology, and a 24-month written warranty. To provide smooth, trouble-free production immediately after installation, the price also includes a comprehensive, rigorous training program for current and future operators.

"We sourced the printer components from top-line manufacturers in England, Germany, Switzerland, Japan, and the United States,” says Crumbaugh. “Then, we built those world-class components into a solid steel chassis at an ISO-certified assembly plant in China."

Virginia King, co-owner of Fastsigns El Paso, has been using the Legend 72HUV printer since the fall of 2007. She bought the printer because she regarded it as the next logical step for growing her business.

Automatic Printhead Maintenance for Extended Life and Reduced Ink Waste

At the push of a button, the AutoServe Printhead Service Station automatically primes, cleans, and caps the printer’s eight Spectra Galaxy 256 industrial printheads. This hands-free, automated maintenance extends the life of the printhead while significantly reducing ink waste and the need for operator intervention.

Integrated Roll Handling for Fast Changeover

Unlike printers that provide a roll-to-roll system as an optional bolt-on attachment, the roll-handling capabilities of the Legend72UV are fully integrated into the printer system. Switching back and forth between roll to rigid substrates can be cleanly accomplished in less than ten minutes.

The Flexibility to Print on a Variety of Roll or Rigid Substrates

The Legend can print on vinyl, polyester film, polycarbonate film, backlit film, polystyrene, foamboard, acrylic, Sintra®, Coroplast®, MDO, plywood, aluminum, and many other substrates. It can handle rolls up 9.84 in. in diameter that weigh up to 250 lbs. It can print on rigid materials up to one inch thick.

Vivid, Accurate Color with Onyx RIP

The Legend was engineered for use with the most current version of either Onyx PosterShop or ProductionHouse RIP software (not included). With Onyx software, the Legend produces vivid, accurate color with a dramatic reduction in the cure-banding commonly seen on some entry-level UV-curable printers.

Comprehensive Training

Printer operators spend four days at LexJet’s state-of-the-art training facility in Sarasota. Then, LexJet provides three days of installation and training at the printer’s site. If additional operators need training at a later date, LexJet will provide a free training session at its training facility.
