Excess Studios placed banners made out of LexJet Water-Resistant Satin Cloth all around the venue at a recent lacrosse tournament, helping improve business 300 percent over the previous year.
Jamie Perry, creative director/director of photography for Excess Studios in Rochester, N.Y., has found a banner way to attract and increase business, particularly at special events like cheerleading and lacrosse tournaments.
At tournaments, Perry sets up promotional and directional banners to lead tournament-goers to his setup within the venue. Perry uses LexJet Water-Resistant Satin Cloth printed at either 80 in. x 24 in. or 80 in. x 35 in., and attached to LexJet I-Banner Spring Back Banner Stands.
"We put a couple of banners at the entrance, and at the corners of the mats or fields, depending on what type of event it is, to direct people to the area in which we're taking team and individual pictures," explains Perry. "We also place about eight or ten of them around the photography area to show a lot of different samples of what we do. At the cheerleader tournament, it increased our business at least 60 percent over the previous year."
In fact, says Perry, four of the banners were purchased by cheerleaders featured on the banners. When they photograph teams, one of the options is an individual 60 in. x 24 in. banner. "It paid for the material, and created a brand new product," says Perry.
At a lacrosse tournament, Perry reported a 300 percent increase over the previous year. Perry says the huge increase was due in part to the banners, and the custom posters (16 in. x 24 in.) they printed on-site with their Epson 9800.
Excess Studios' lobby features Water-Resistant Satin Cloth banners hanging from the rafters.
"The banners look great, and the material is wonderful. It's a strong, lightweight material that lasts. We have a professional soccer team client that's interested in featuring each of their players on the banners all along one of the stadium walls," says Perry.
Perry adds that when printing Water-Resistant Satin Cloth it's a lot easier to work with if you weigh down the ends with clips (such as heavy clothespins) once the material starts to come out of the printer since the material is so lightweight.
If you're printing a lot of banners, another LexJet customer has created a contraption that puts tension and weight on the material throughout the production run. Click here to see a step-by-step rundown of how it's built and how it works.
Perry uses Heavy Duty Banner Tape to create pole pockets for use with the banner stands. The banner tape is designed to make banner finishing simple and easy, whether you're making pole pockets or reinforced seams, and is an economical and efficient alternative to sewing.
Perry also uses Water-Resistant Satin Cloth banners in the lobby of the studio's 20,000 square-foot facility. The material is draped down from one crossbeam to the next, creating a flowing effect that draws interest and attention. Additional banners made out of LexJet Water-Resistant Polypropylene hang in the main studio, which is a converted warehouse.
The studio's work is featured prominently on hanging banners printed on LexJet Water-Resistant Polypropylene.
