Speed up Image Editing with onOne Software

OnOneSoftware specializes in time-saving, image-processing plug-ins for Adobe Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, and Photoshop Lightroom. The company has announced several new offerings:

Free Photo Presets for Users of Adobe Camera RAW: More than 100 free presets for Adobe Camera RAW can help you efficiently process RAW files. Developed by Photoshop instructor Jack Davis, the presets are organized in a commonly used sequence for developing images: 1) white balance; 2) tone control; 3) vibrancy; 4) custom hue/saturation/luminosity adjustments; 5) black-and-white conversions; 6) enhancing (split toning, vignetting, and antiquing); and 7) sharpening.

Once you find a combination you like, you can fine tune it or save it as a preset for future use. You can synchronize the adjustments to other images in Adobe Camera RAW or copy and paste the develop settings to other images within Adobe Bridge. Download the presets at www.ononesoftware.com/ACR

PhotoTools Reproduce Darkroom Techniques: onOne’s PhotoTools plug-in uses Photoshop Actions to faithfully reproduce camera filters such as neutral density, color correction, and polarization as well as darkroom techniques and alternative processes such as solarization, cyanotype, and palladium printing. You can preview your chosen effect before applying it, or stack multiple effects just as you would camera filters. To achieve a signature look, you can control the order of each effect and how they blend together. The base version ($159.95) includes 150 effects, corrections and styles developed by Jack Davis. The Professional Edition ($259.95) features 100 additional effects, some created by professional photographer and educator Kevin Kubota. The two products are scheduled for release Nov. 15.

PhotoTune 2.2 Aids Color Correction: PhotoTune 2.2 ($129.95) consists of two modules: ColorTune and SkinTune. The ColorTune module provides a six-step visual method for fixing digital images. Using the same concept as an eye exam, the Color Wizard presents two preview images side by side and asks you to pick which of the two digitally altered images looks better. The process takes about 15 seconds per image, compared to about 10 minutes it takes to manually adjust curves, levels, and sliders in Photoshop. A batch of 100 images that would take about 16 hours to color-correct in Photoshop can be processed in less than an hour with ColorTune.

PhotoTune’s SkinTune technology helps you preserve lifelike results while making very subtle adjustments to skin tones. The software is based on two years of skin-color research that found that skin color represents less than 1% of all available colors, and that each race has slightly different color characteristics. SkinTune includes a library of 125,000 to 150,000 colors for each race—African, Asian, Caucasian, Latin, and Middle Eastern. To use SkinTune, open an image in Photoshop and select PhotoTune 2.2-Skin Tune from the Filter menu. After two mouse clicks, SkinTune finds the nearest acceptable skin color from the selected library and automatically corrects the image.
