When Adobe announced plans to release Photoshop Elements 7, it introduced Photoshop.com and its two levels of membership. Photoshop.com will deliver helpful templates and creative tutorials to members on a regular basis. It will also provide automatic online backup and storage of photos and videos and interactive options for sharing images with greater impact.
A basic membership in Photoshop.com will be free and open to anyone who takes pictures or videos, regardless of whether they buy an Adobe product.
The Photoshop.com Plus membership will provide 20 GB of online storage and cost $49.99 a year. Photoshop Elements 7 will sell for $99.99 and will be available bundled with one year of a Photoshop.com Plus membership for $139.99.
“The new Photoshop.com membership takes Photoshop Elements to the next level—extending beyond the desktop—by giving customers access to their photos and videos from virtually anywhere, providing secure backup, delivering inspiration to fuel creativity, and enabling users to keep the photos and creations they share fresh and exciting,” explains Adobe’s Doug Mack.
New editing capabilities in Photoshop Elements 7 include a Smart Brush that enables you to apply effects to a specific area of photo with a single stroke—making it easier to improve lighting, add textures, or apply more than 50 other effects.
The Scene Cleaner, based on Adobe’s Photomerge technology, lets you brush away unwanted subjects, such as tourists in a vacation shot who may be distracting from the main subject of the photo. One-step Quick Fix tools make it easy to whiten teeth or brighten blue skies. A new filter for portrait shots makes it easy to soften surfaces while retaining edges and crisp details.
Photoshop Elements 7 is expected to be available from leading retailers in October.
