Accompany Grant Oakes on a Wedding Shoot in the Bahamas

A real wedding in a tropical paradise is the captivating backdrop for a hands-on workshop called Art & Inspiration that will be conducted April 21-23 by award-winning photographer Grant Oakes. Shoot alongside Grant as he documents the nuptials of Shannon Good and Brody Hall.

After the ceremony, you can participate in a serious, fashion-style shoot plus an underwater “trash-the-dress” session that Oakes promises will blow you away. He says, “You’ll need a swimsuit, snorkel gear, and a waterproof housing for your camera for this one.”

The workshop will be split between the popular Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island and Nygard Cay, a six-acre exotic luxury retreat that is a cross between a Robinson Crusoe playground and Mayan ruins. The resort has been profiled on Robin Leach’s Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and has hosted dozens of celebrity guests.

The goal of the shoot is to educate and inspire wedding photographers in every aspect of the wedding ritual. Topics to be discussed include marketing and wedding pre-planning as well as how to get better images in the camera and reduce post-production time.

According to Oakes, “You’ll come away with a new perspective on every aspect of the wedding photography business and amazing images that will strengthen your brand.”

Oakes has more than 30 years of experience in professional photography and expertise in composition, workflow, art, and marketing. His work has been published in numerous magazines and he has conducted numerous seminars, including a platform session at the Imaging and Design Expo and a master class at WPPI. Oakes also runs Tafota, a web hosting and design service for photographers.

Registration is limited to 15 photographers. The seminar fee is $1,500, with a $300 discount if you register before Feb. 28. The fee includes all sessions and meals as well as transport to and from Nygard Cay aboard an 82-ft. luxury yacht. A special room rate of $190/night plus taxes (double occupancy) is available at the Comfort Inn Suites next to the Atlantis.
