Danny and Brenda Keffer, owners of Keffer’s Photography in Vidor, Texas, recently added some indispensable and economical tools to their marketing tool box: LexJet Water-Resistant Satin Cloth and Hahnemuhle Gallerie Wrap Stretcher Bars.
Keffer's Photography shoots portraits of local beauty shop clients, which are printed on LexJet Water-Resistant Satin Cloth and displayed in the beauty shop.
The Keffers have targeted beauty shops with tapestries printed on Water-Resistant Satin Cloth that feature photos of actual customers modeling the latest hair styles.
The tapestries can hang in the windows, on the walls, or in the lobbies in the beauty shop – wherever they have the most impact – making point-of-sale advertising more personalized and custom than any generic display ever could.
The tapestries have the added benefit of creating word-of-mouth buzz for the beauty shop as the customer featured in the photos shot by Danny Keffer tends to tell two friends, who tell two other friends, and so on, and so on.
Of course Keffer’s Photography is on the image as well, so the studio also benefits from the word-of-mouth exposure.
“We’ve developed a great relationship with the higher end beauty shops. Their clients bring their friends in to see them, so it’s good for the beauty shop, and it’s good for us because it’s advertising for our portrait work," says Danny Keffer.
"We’ve been doing this for only about three months and we’ve certainly seen an increase in our business since we started doing it. We have about ten more beauty shops lined up to do the same thing, once we can get their clients in for a photo shoot,” adds Keffer.
Here's an example of Water-Resistant Satin Cloth gallery wraps displayed in a home. Keffer's Photography uses Hahnemuhle's Gallerie Wrap Stretcher Bars to create the gallery wraps in minutes. Keffer's Photography is targeting interior designers, among others, with this product.
The tapestries, printed on Keffer’s Epson 11880, are typically 36 in. x 60 in. and hang vertically or are attached to a banner stand. Keffer also uses the tapestries at bridal shows and other events at which he exhibits. The tapestries not only attract brides to the booth, but also bring in work from other vendors at the show, including a countertop company Keffer is printing displays for to be used at home shows.
“I wouldn’t really call them banners, because it sounds cheap, and the look of these is anything but cheap. The printing is incredible. The Water-Resistant Satin Cloth prints up as good as any paper we print on. We use LexJet's custom profile, and it works very well. It’s opened up a different avenue, especially with beauty shops, to get displays inside places we normally might not,” says Keffer.

Keffer has also used the Water-Resistant Satin Cloth to create gallery wrap art for banks and homes. He uses Hahnemuhle’s Gallerie Wrap Stretcher Bars, and reports that the process with this new tool takes the mystery out of gallery wraps.
“You just trim the material, lay it down flat, pop the stretcher bars down, fold them up, put the pin in the corners and you’re done; they’re amazing. I wouldn’t attempt a gallery wrap before, and would take them somewhere else, but with this system it’s a five-minute process,” says Keffer. “I’ve used the system with both the Water-Resistant Satin Cloth and canvas. It’s a great product, and it’s reasonably priced.”
